Tantalos is the name of a protocol we develop to auto locate and download content on a network.
Tantalos enables you to use your complet music or video collection on all devices
on the network without need to copy the files every time or do complex streaming setups.
You can simply move a playlist from one device to another and play it back or enter
song the title of the song you want to listen at any device.
Whenever a Tantalos enabled player is going to play something it does not know a file for it asks via OpenSLP for Tantalos servers on the network. Once it has a list it will ask the servers if they have the requested file. The first server that have a copy of the file will send the content back to the player for playback.
Tantalos clients may cache the file localy for later playback or play them directly from the remote device. They may provide a option to the user to set if they should cache the content. In case they cache it they can of cause provide it to others by acting as Tantalos servers thereself.
